Hellooooo! Here are some cool, currently running audio shows available for the next four days on BBC Radio:
Six one hour episodes, each focusing on a particular album, playing clips and sketches, outlining how it came about, who was involved and why it has stood the test of time.
He was "Manuel" on the TV comedy classic, he's not really from Barcelona, and of course he's accomplished much more -- including the creator of a landmark radio drama with no dialogue -- in a three hour retrospective interview with clips and shows.
A one hour documentary with interviews and clips about The Beatles, 10cc, The Eagles, The Police and more, why they split up and why so many got back together.
PERRI, THE LITTLE GIRL SQUIRREL

It hasn't gotten much attention, but some classic Disney records of the 50s, 60s and 70s are popping up on amazon.com as downloads.
One of them is
Walt Disney's Perri, A Story with Songs. It was originally issued in 1957 as one of the first Disneyland Storyteller albums and was available with or without a full-color book.
"Perri" was Walt Disney's only
"True-Life Fantasy," signifying that it was a totally fictitious story told through animal footage with narration but with choral songs in the style of
Bambi. It had a "dream sequence," and a romantic angle. It really was amazing what the editors could put together to give the impression that these animals are acting and reacting.
Anyway, the record tells the story with narration by the beloved Mouseketeer
Jimmie Dodd, who sings two songs, one a duet with
Darlene Gillespie (who has her own lovely solo, "Now to Sleep).
It is richly orchestrated by
and his chorus, a practice that became too cost prohibitive in a few years. While it's rather short, it's a fine listening experience and probably comes as a revelation to many who may not have even known it existed. It's also very inexpensive. At the current cost of $3.61 its actually cheaper than the 1957 retail price!
Trivia note: Actress
Peri Gilpin of
Frasier said she was named after the squirrel in the movie, even though someone forgot a "r."
Many thanks to Jim Hollifield for letting me know this album was available.
CHEF REMY STILL COOKING AT EPCOT

We had a nice lunch this week at Les Chefs de France at Epcot. Every day but Sunday, a talented Cast Member brings a cart around the restaurant and uncovered little Remy, who moves and squeaks. Since it was my birthday, he did a little dance.
They have a great $20 deal that includes appetizer, entree and dessert. It's a limited choice, but a generous amount of well-crafted cuisine and we had leftover to take home.
THE MAGIC OF ORLANDO, PART 332-C

Walt Disney World is not the only place where characters come to life -- the whole Orlando area is a surreal wonderland! Just look at the enchanting themed character that was waving to me and other commuters on the roadway the other day:
I think it's a sandwich. The go-go boots add just the right accent.
Remember on
3rd Rock from the Sun when the
Jan Hooks character gave birth to the offspring of the Big Giant Head (played by...no, wait, guess...
William Shatner)? She decided to relocate, saying something to the effect of "I am going to take my star-child to a place where he will be understood and appreciated --
Orlando, Florida."
Over the years of living here I have waved to giant tacos, cookies and homemade versions of licensed characters on local streets and in area restaurants without setting foot in a theme park.
The World of Sid & Marty Krofft inside the Omni in Atlanta didn't really close, it just relocated!
